After recently spending a week in Lake Garda I’ve decided that I have discovered my new favourite holiday destination. It had everything I imagined and more. Stunning scenery, cobbled streets, beautiful buildings, colourful flowers, the best pizza on earth and my new favourite drink a Hugo spritz (prosecco, elder flower cordial, sparkling water and mint).

It’s so picturesque and an absolute instagrammers dream. Every corner you turn you will find the most beautiful little streets, I could have wondered for hours taking pictures.

During my stay I did manage to visit a few of the other nearby towns and the city of Verona so sit back and let me take you a little tour.

Limone

We stayed in Limone which you might already be familiar with as it features in the opening scene of a Bond film (Quantum of Solace).  We stayed in hotel all’ Azzurro which was a lovely hotel right on the edge of the lake. It was the perfect location as we were right in the middle of it all and close to the bars, shops, restaurant and ferry terminal. I felt that Limone had a slightly more relaxed feel to it than some of the other towns on the lake. We spent our days here going for nice walks, relaxing by the lake and sipping Hugo’s in the bars along the lake side. One of my favourite things to do was have afternoon tea on hotel terrace where you could watch the world go by.  Take me back please.

If you are looking for something more adventurous to do in Limone you can feel like James Bond for an afternoon by hiring one of the speed boats. It’s definitely something I would like to do if I went back.

Riva

Further up the lake you will find the lovely town of Riva. It can be reached by boat or bus but the boat is much more enjoyable and probably quicker. Riva is much bigger than Limone and has a new shopping centre if you fancy some retail therapy. I never got a chance to visit the shopping centre as we hired bikes and spent the day exploring the town by bike. It’s got a great cycle path so need to worry about busy roads. Riva has a lovely harbour which is great for a lunch or a Hugo stop.

Malcesine

Malcesine is directly across the river from Limone and again, best reached by boat. When approaching the harbour you are greeted by the beautiful castle and when off the boat you will find winding, cobbled lanes with lots of shops and restaurants. It is also where you will be able to take the cable car up to the top of the mountain.

Cable Car Ride

The cable car ride is an absolute must if you visit Malcesine. Not only will find the best views of the lake you will also find restaurants, nice walks and some farm animals. It’s still a mystery to me how the cows don’t fall of the mountain lol.

Verona

We also managed to fit in a day trip to Verona. This beautiful medieval town and home to Romeo and Juliette has a lot to offer. With marble pavements, Juliette’s balcony and a roman arena older than the Colosseum in Rome it’s a beautiful city to wander around and if you like shopping, via Mazzini is the place to go. It’s lined with designer shops and every beauty bloggers favourite shop – Sephora. You might also be interested to know Leonardo DiCaprio owns a home on the square.

Where is your favourite Summer destination?

There are so many products I’m loving at the moment but throughout the past few Summer months I’m finding these are the ones I have been reaching for on almost a daily basis.

Mon Guerlain

First up is this gold *simple knot cuff from Stella and Dot. I was gifted this at a Stella and Dot event I was recently invited to.  They had so many beautiful pieces of jewellery to showcase but this cuff was one of my favourites. The simple and classic design goes with practically everything I own. It’s the perfect piece of jewellery to finish off any outfit.

Next up is this beautiful perfume, *Mon Guerlain which I have been reaching for all Summer. I was introduced to this fragrance at St Enoch Centre’s Colour of Summer event where I met the lovely Harriet who is the business development manager for Guerlain. She was so passionate about the brand and spoke about the history behind the brand. Did you know Guerlain invented the lipstick and bronzer? Well, you do now.

This feminine fragrance inspired by Angelina Jolie is a delicate mix of jasmine, sandalwood, lavender, and vanilla. Don’t let the lavender to put you off, it blends beautifully with the rest of ingredients and smells fresh and oriental. Not only does the fragrance smell beautiful the pretty bottle is the perfect edition to my my dressing table.

st tropez

Another Summer favourite of mine has been the *St Tropez gradual tan tinted body lotion. It’s so easy to apply, in fact it’s as easy as applying your daily moisturiser and gives an instant Summer glow. It’s completely streak free and leaves my skin feeling moisturised as well as giving me a natural looking tan and healthy glow.  It can be build up over a few days for a darker tan.

L'occitane milk concemtrate

This L’occitane Milk Concentrate has been in my box of beauty supplies for ages. I’m sure it was in a set I received as a Christmas gift and now I have tried it I can’t believe I have left it lying in a box for so long. This body moisturiser feels amazing when applied. It’s perfect for dry legs and leaves my skin feeling super soft. I’ve currently been applying this on a daily basis and my skin has never felt softer, it also smells so good. It is a little on the pricey side so once this is finished it’s probably not something I can afford to lather all over my body on daily basis but lovely as a little treat every now and again.

The revitalising beauty booster from OM skincare was something I picked up recently in the Space NK sale. I had never heard of the brand before but I’m sucker for any kind of beauty boosting product as I find my skin can look dull at times. I was also sucked in by the really pretty packing but I’m happy to report this little bottle is god send. I have been mixing in with my foundation to give me that extra glow and stop dryness, all you need is one little drop. It’s also nice worn alone to give your skin a boost.

What are your Summer favourites?

*Some items have been gifted to me.

After getting fed up with coats hanging over my banister at the bottom of the stairs I decided I needed a coat hanger. I’ve seen loads in the shops for £20 plus and I thought to myself, that would be so easy and much cheaper to make with stuff I have around the house.

I had a rummage in our basement (the previous owners left loads of stuff so it’s a bit of a treasure trove downstairs) and I found some skirting boards. I asked my BF to saw round the edges and then I smoothed the edges down with my sander. I then wiped the wood with a damp cloth to remove the excess dust and left to dry for 5 minutes. I already had chalk paint in duck egg which I have used for previous up-cycling projects around the house (see here). I gave the wood a few coats of paint and left it to dry.

Once the paint was dry I used some sanding paper rounds the edges to give it that shabby chic effect. I then stuck on these cute little Sass and Bell hooks I picked up in a near by interiors shop ages ago. They were on sale for £1.25 each and I knew they would come in handy for something one day. I used a strong doubled sided tape to stick the hooks on to the wood and voila……. all done.

Benefit’s original Hoola Bronzing Powder is a probably one of the first bronzers I purchased and have re-purchased over the years so I’m sure you will understand my excitement about the latest products from the Hoola range – the Hoola Quickie Contour Stick and Hoola Lite.

Contouring is not my strong point so I love how easy to use and effective the Hoola Quickie Contour Stick is. For defined cheekbones and a sculpted face apply this beneath your cheek bones, on your forehead (just beneath your hairline) and along either side of your noise. It literately took me no time at all to apply this product. It was easy to bend and the results were natural and long lasting. Trust me, if you aren’t good at contouring this is the product for you.

I love that Benefit have launched a bronzer for us paler gals. Although I love the original Hoola Bronzing Powder (which is one of Benefit’s best sellers)  I am very fair skinned so I do have to be careful with how much I apply so I don’t end up looking too tantastic. I only really use bronzer in the Summer months when I have a bit more colour to my face but with Hoola Lite I will be able to use all year round.  It blends in super easy and leaves my skin with a lovely natural glow and if I want to go slightly darker all I need to do is apply a little more. I can also see this product becoming a best seller.

*These items were sent to me as a PR sample but this post contains my own views.

We don’t get much sun here in Scotland so my gorgeous new swimsuit from UK Swimwear will have to wait until my holiday to Lake Garda in July before it gets a proper outing. However that’s not stopped me planning my holiday wardrobe so I can share this gorgeous one piece with you guys.

I choose the Miraclesuit Must Have Barcelona Swimsuit in Electric Blue. I absolutely love the style of this swimsuit and was drawn to electric blue as soon as spotted it online. It’s strapless, which is great for avoiding tan lines but it also comes with straps which can be attached on to the swimsuit to give you more support if needed. Now the best thing about this swimsuit, it can make you look 10lbs lighter in 10 seconds as it is made to shape and firm the body by lifting your bust, shaping your bum and slimming your waist. Good news for me as I plan to stuff my face with pizza and pasta while holidaying in Italy.

This swimsuit will also be lovely to wear throughout the day. I can team it with my trusty vintage Levi cut offs, (that I take on holiday every year) my new sandals from New Look and my Love Moschino Sunglasess from Specsavers.  So if I need to go from poolside to lunch in a hurry this outfit is perfect.

If like me, you have been on the hunt for the perfect swimsuit or bikini for a while then UK Swimwear have a fabulous choice with brands such as Forever Unique, Freya, Gossard and many more. They have a huge range to choose from including accessories, beach bags and sun dresses so you certainly won’t stuck for choice.
